Montana Backpack Project

Our values

What guides us

These are the rules we pack by. They shape how we collect, how we fill each bag and how a pack gets to a child.

Six things we hold to

How we do the work

01

Dignity first

Packs look like any other child's backpack. No logos, no labels, no lining up to receive one.

02

Ask, don't assume

We check with the adults who work with youth about what children and teens need this season, then pack for that.

03

Stay local

Every pack stays in Bozeman and Belgrade. Your gift helps a young person in your own community.

04

Keep it private

We never share names, photos or stories of the youth we serve. Their privacy matters more than our marketing.

05

Pack for Montana

Winter here is long and wet. We pack for wind, cold and snow, not for a catalog.

06

Show up together

Businesses, schools, churches and families. Most packs get filled by a room full of neighbors in one evening.

Together

Together, we can make sure no young person here feels alone.
